About Mitoxantrone An Anthracenedione derivative a type II topoisomerase inhibitor Anti-neoplastic. Mechanism of Action of Mitoxantrone This drug shows its anticancer activity by different mechanisms. Drug intercalates the DNA cause inter/intra strand cross linking. The drug can also bind to the topoisomerase enzyme2 which is necessary for the cell to divide and so grow into 2 new cells. If the drug binds with DNA it gets tangled up and the cell cannot divide.
