About Levamisole Synthetic imidazothiazole derivative Biological response modifier Anthelmintic Antineoplastic adjunct. Mechanism of Action of Levamisole Levamisole is the levo isomer of Tetramisole which is used as an anthelminthic agent. It exerts its action by producing paralysis of worm by causing sustained contraction of somatic muscles of worm by an irreversible noncompetitive depolarization type of Neuro muscular block. It also non competitively inhibits the production of succinate.Its immunostimalant action is by modulating cell mediated immunity by increasing phagocytosis by macrophages.
